First thing is to remove the heat shield from above the exhaust
pipe, 3 bolts. This will expose the passenger side emergency brake
cable. Next remove 1 screw and 1 nut from each cable that hang the
cables. You will notice that the cables cross each other when connecting
to the main cable holder at the hand brake. Now you run into your
first of 2 fabrication jobs on this conversion. Don't worry it's
easy. When you pick up your rear brakes you will notice that the
disc brakes have a larger hammerhead lug on the ends. All you have
to do is drill the holes in the existing bracket and open them up.
I used a 3/8inch drill bit and then used a porting/polishing bit
to finish fit it. A file can be used but air power is always your
friend. Below is a picture of the 2 brackets for the emergency brake.
The larger one is from the '95 Celica and the shorter one is from
my car. It has already been drilled out. You can't use the one that
came with the disc system because it flares the cables apart and
will make them bind. So modify yours to keep the cables running
straight.
