VIN Number Decoding

Each Celica has a Unique 17-digit VIN number. The information below is what the dealer sees when they look at your VIN. The VIN number is also used by the DMV as a unique identifier to a vehicle. You can find your VIN number in a number of places including on the dash (drivers side), door frame, and stamped on the engine block.

Submitting a request to CarFax will show whenever your vehicle has changed hands, whether or not a car has a salvage title, when the car has been tested for emissions and more.

Each number of the VIN can be decoded as per this table

Digit 1 - World Manufacturer Identification

1 = USA: NUMMI
2 = Canada: TMMC
4 = USA: TMM & NUMMI
J = Japan

Digit 2 - Manufacturor

T = Toyota
N = NUMMI

2 = Passenger car
3 = Multipurpose passenger vehicle
4 = Truck
5 = Incomplete Vehicle
6 = Bus
