Modifications:
Well for starters it is was factory built for the series which
means it has certain TRD modifications installed by Toyota Motorsports:
1)Welded SCCA legal roll cage
2)Steel ball joints in the rear for the lower control arms.
3)Coil over suspension with Tokico shocks
4)Toyo road race tires
5)TRD header
6)Toyota racing oil cooler
7)Straight pipe to the back
8)Camber adjustment plates added with full camber setting loaded.
9)Hawk brake pads with steel braided brake lines.
10) Racing window net and full six point harness from simpson.
11) Fire system.
Then when we got a hold of them we proceeded to do a drastic weight
reduction program literally cutting out anything that was not absolutely
necessary. All the interior, sound deadening material, head lights,
wiper motors, air conditioning/heating, power steering, side windows
with all supporting structure, door interior, dash, rear seat etc.
Bumpers where stripped of their supports. Sparco racing seat installed
with custom made brackets so the driver sits practically on the
floor for lower center of gravity and safety. Battery relocated
to the passenger seat area. Gas tank had rust so I replaced with
a 10 gallon aluminum light weight fuel cell that sits in the wheel
well. Replaced fuel pump for a bosch high pressure unit.
Removed rear side and rear window and manufactured lexan tinted
replacements with aluminum supports for rear. Designed and manufactured
rear wing made of fiberglass and carbon fiber winglets, positioned
for lots of down force but narrow enough not to create too much
drag. Replaced springs for hypercoils using 600 pds in the fronts
and 400 in the rear and lowered the car height to road race specifications.
Brakes are porterfields however the rotors are stock front and rear.
Car has a custom made carbon fiber hood that is super light and
functional however at high speeds it tends to flutter more than
i like it to. Installed 2" air ducts on driver window for cooling
and relocated driver mirror to pillar for better view. Manufactured
a crude air dam on the front that is very functional however I am
looking to buy a finished dam with spliter sometime soon.
Engine, well the one that its there right now is a 3S-GE with a
lightened flywheel and a carbonlite carbon fiber intake, however
there is a gaping 4 inch hole in the block so i am currently procuring
a third gen 3S-GTE with the LSD'd MR-2 tranny for my next horsepower
upgrade. Replacing the stock 5S-FE engine with the japanese 3S-GE
was a total pain in the ass but for the 3 races it lasted it was
a lot of fun to be able to rev higher and feel the extra horses.
By the way I blew up the 5S-FE in the exact same spot as the 3S-GE,
almost the exact same turn at Willow Springs so I think it must
be the track and not the heavy right footed driving...lol
